Plastic Surgery: An Introduction
Plastic
Surgery is a medical specialty that seeks to heal and restore
patients with injury or disfigurement as well as aesthetic correction
of facial and body features. The word "plastic" derives from the
Greek word "plastikos" meaning "shape" or "form."
As with any surgery, a very important factor in the success of aesthetic
surgery is the surgeon you select. That is why you need to know
about the training and experience of your plastic surgeon. Dr.
Dennis Barek has been in private practice since 1975.
Initial Visit, Evaluation and Appointments
An
initial consultation and evaluation with Dr. Barek must be scheduled.
He will ensure that you are comfortable with your decision and
that all of your questions have been answered. During this time,
you and he will discuss in detail the recommended procedure and
what results are to be expected. Cosmetic surgery should be approached
with realistic expectations. The results of any procedure are
dependent upon your health, your age, and the way your body heals.
Your healing progress will be monitored and will require follow-up
visits after surgery.
All surgery is personally performed by Dr. Barek.
An Atmosphere of Care and Respect
One
of our primary concerns will be to make you comfortable in our

total needs of our patients. One of our coordinators is always
available to help you with arrangements for the many services
that are available at the Facility. Surgery is performed in our
state of the art office operating room. We will make every attempt
to honor your trust by providing the quality of plastic surgery
care you require and deserve.
Continuing Medical Education
"Dr.Barek attends many annual meetings, symposia and hands-on
workshops to stay on top of new developments in the field. He
also visits and hosts other well known plastic surgeons in order
to exchange knowledge on a more personal basis. Not all new techniques
or instrumentation is as good as they claim to be. Good judgement
and evaluation of clinical material help decide what advances
are real advances which are marketing gimmicks."
